Betula pendula or Silver Birch as they’re known to many are beautiful, delicate trees. Unfortunately they’re also relatively quick growing!
This one had grown into a wonderful, balanced shape but it had already reached the maximum size the customer was happy with it being. It was starting to loom over the neighbours garden as well as the garage and anyone who owns or lives downwind of a Silver Birch will attest to just how much mess they can make when flowering!
Not wanting to get rid of the tree though we instead performed a sympathetic reduction with every cut leaving branches tapering out to healthy growth points eagerly awaiting Spring to flush out in leaf. Hopefully this will get the customer many more years of enjoyment out of this lovely tree.
